Pedro Lazaro

Pedro is a fashion connoisseur with 25 years’ experience in the fashion and media field.

Lazaro studied at the now gone but iconic Traphagen School of Fashion in New York City. There the writer studied Fashion Design and Advertisement and made a living decorating & doing window displays in Manhattan and  San Juan, P.R. During this period he  began designing a clothing line and bridal wear, he  also worked for local fashion designers. Afterwards his interest shifted towards the editorial side of fashion, beauty and lifestyle. Faith would land him a job for El Nuevo Dia Newspaper in P.R which eventually became a full time position as a reporter for the Por Dentro section (lifestyle weekly). Pedro has eventually worked for other publications such as Buena Vida Magazine, El Vocero Newspaper, Metro Magazine, Metro Miami Newspaper, Vea Magazine, Access Newspaper and Nocturno Miami Magazine. Nocturno is a high end, luxury publication with editions in Puerto Rico, Miami and Colombia.

A bilingual writer, researcher and editorial director with knowledge, experience and on hand attitude Pedro is known for his articles on fashion & his forecasting capacity towards what will the reader, client or customer read and or acquire.

Also, a note of interest is a documentary he  shot in 2006 about people’s relationship with fashion and dress titled Our Passion for Fashion ( De Guayaberas y Pasacintas). The documentary was done with no budget and was shot in Puerto Rico and New York City. This 46 minute visual dialogue explores how fashion is viewed and treated in certain sectors and groups of society. Interviewing  designers such as : Nono Maldonado, Gustavo Arango, Michaele Vollbracht, curators at the Costume Institute and fashion doyenne Iris Apfel. Pedro is active in the editorial and recollection of the  evolution of fashion and its ever changing path.
